More than 4,400 TAB venues across Australia will be able to show live Major League Baseball games following a deal between Tabcorp and its digital streaming partner, Betradar.
The exclusive deal – which builds on Tabcorp’s acquisition of rights for its TAB wagering business – will utilise Betradar’s streaming services and Tabcorp’s racing and sports broadcaster Sky to show live Major League Baseball (MLB) across one of the largest global portfolios of retail betting outlets in the world.
The deal caters for the growing appetite in Australia for US sports content and helps Tabcorp achieve its goal of being the home of US sport in Australia. With games in the US falling in the morning timeslot in Australia, TAB venues can access popular US sporting content that complements Sky’s coverage of Australian and international racing.
The deal expands the relationship between Tabcorp, a world class diversified gambling entertainment group, and Betradar, the world’s leading provider of sports data and betting services.
It also allows TAB customers to watch all MLB games live through TAB’s wagering app and website.
Betradar’s Sales Director, Global Accounts, Todd McCully said: “We’re really pleased to continue to develop our relationship with Tabcorp in Australia, with one of the largest retail deals we have done across a single property. Tabcorp already utilises our services to live stream the NBA in Australia, as well as our pre-match services, live data, and Live Match Trackers. The MLB games shown on Tabcorp’s Sky Network in their betting outlets will help to diversify the content offering and ultimately will speak to a wider audience.”
Tabcorp’s Managing Director, Wagering & Media Adam Rytenskild said: “There is growing demand for US sports content in Australia, particularly among TAB punters. This deal – which complements our NBA and NFL partnerships – helps us to fulfil our ambition of being the home of US sport in Australia and to deliver superb experiences for our customers, both in venues and digitally via the app and website.”
MLB Executive Vice President, Gaming & New Business Ventures, Kenny Gersh said: “We are looking forward to working with Tabcorp to bring exciting baseball content to millions of fans in Australia via TAB and Sky. When the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks played the Opening Series games at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground in 2014, we saw how much baseball resonated with Australian sports fans. We want to continue to help develop baseball in Australia and grow the game nationwide. Between TAB’s retail footprint and wagering expertise, we’re confident that this partnership is a significant step towards elevating baseball in Australia.”
